Event For Haven for Hope Residents and Staff Will Also Launch a Donation Drive

SAN ANTONIO--()--Haven for Hope will host a pep rally on Wednesday, May 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to bring Spurs playoff excitement to the residents and staff of Haven for Hope. The pep rally will also mark the launch of a playoff-long donation drive for key items needed by the residents of Haven for Hope. Haven for Hope is a non-profit dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children by addressing the root causes of homelessness through education, job training and behavioral health services. The mission is to transform and save lives.

“I have been a big fan of the great work at Haven and want to encourage the community to participate in this drive during the Spurs playoff run.”

Academy Sports + Outdoors will be providing all of the youth residents of Haven with San Antonio Spurs T-shirts and all residents and staff with Spurs spirit cards. Academy will also be making a donation of basketballs for Haven for Hope’s soon-to-be-completed basketball court. USAA and Admiral Capital Group are making a financial contribution to purchase needed items and the USAA Singers will be performing along with the Spurs Silver Dancers and the Coyote. David Robinson, San Antonio Spurs legend, will be on hand to spend time with the staff and residents and kick off the drive.

The drive will begin Thursday morning, May 24th,and will continue throughout the Spurs playoff run. Donated items can be dropped off at the Haven for Hope Visitors Center located at 1 Haven for Hope Way in San Antonio Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the Donation Station Warehouse, also at 1 Haven for Hope Way, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A list of all needed items can be found on the Haven for Hope web site (www.havenforhope.org). Key items include athletic shoes, socks, diapers, body wash, deodorant and under garments.
