Karl Malone committed one of basketballâs most heinous sins. He devalued the accomplishments of Michael Jordan.
âI would have to start my team with Scottie Pippen,â Malone said. âThis is why I would take Scottie: Do you remember the time that Michael retired? I watched Scottie Pippen when the Chicago Bulls werenât really good and Scottie led that team in every statistical category, and I just remembered that. Plus, heâs a guy who could care less about scoring. He wants to stop the best player on the other team. That would have been pretty cool, to see Scottie guarding Michael.â
It appears that the animosity between Malone and Jordan hasnât decreased. Jordan will take his six championship rings, including two over Maloneâs Jazz, and will be just fine.
Maybe heâll come out and say heâd rather have John Stockton.
