DeJuan Blair started 62 of a possible 66 games yet only garnered 7.6 minutes per game in the playoffs, as his one-dimensional game was superseded by the multi-faceted Boris Diaw. That his skills arenât conducive to success in the Spursâ system is well-known.
And, as you probably know, Blair has been placed on the trading block. He doesnât anticipate a return to the Silver and Black next season.
But what can the Spurs really expect in return for a deteriorating rebounder, abominable defender and an incompetent offensive player, aside from offensive rebounds and pick-and-rolls? It doesnât help that Blair doesnât have an ACL to speak of either.
Yet the Spurs are looking for a first-rounder in return according to Marcus Thompson, who runs the beat for the Golden State Warriors (H/T Spurs Talk and TimC_PtR).
The Warriors would have an interest in San Antonio big man DeJuan Blair, according to a source. But the     Spurs want a first-round pick in exchange. Not only do the Warriors have one they can give, they wouldnât     give it anyway. If the price comes down, GSW would check him out. Heâsnot the athlete they want, but heâd     bring the toughness and physicality they need
I donât think Blair is necessarily worth a first-rounder but exploiting the masses of incompetent general managers canât hurt.
