Well, the streak is over.
The Spursâ last came against the Memphis Grizzlies on July 19, 2009. That was quite awhile ago, if you hadnât noticed, evidenced by the fact that Ian Mahimni â" yes the same Mahimni who signed a four-year, $16 million contract this season â" led the team with 15 points.
They finished 3-2 that season with their final two games resulting in losses. Since then, excluding last year where there was no Summer League, they havenât lost. They finished 5-0 in 2010 and began play this year with two wins on the strength of the indomitable Kawhi Leonard.
Leonard played well enough to warrant sitting for the remainder of Summer League. And despite Cory Josephâs best efforts â" he finished with 22 points, six assists and four rebounds â" the Spurs fell for the first time â" in well, awhile. Eric Bledsoe outdueled Joseph with 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds.
