The NBA rumors are really flying now as the San Antonio Spurs are trying to move center DeJuan Blair. Â Blair was a starter for the Spurs but that has apparently come to an end. Â During the playoffs, Blair fell out of the rotation so a move could help both parties.
The Spurs want to bring in some of their Euro players, but I am not sure they will find many takers for Blair. Â He has bad knees and if the Spurs do not want him, there has to be something else there. Â They typically do not give away players that they think can play. Â That is why they are one of the best teams in the league. Â They do their homework and they avoid stupid trades.
I would expect the Spurs would be hoping for a late pick in the first round. Â That way, they can draft another Euro guy and stash him in Europe. Â Adding players seems to be something they are against right now, so another Euro draft would be the smart move.
I think Blair can still be an effective player, but his knees raise so many red flags. Â You have no idea how long he is going to be able to play. Â It is a risk that someone will probably take but I would be wary giving up a pick for him. Â You might just get one year out of him, but that is the risk you take before the draft.
