San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker suffered an eye injury when a fight broke out at a New York City nightclub, according to multiple reports Friday.
The three-time NBA champion, who will lead the French Olympic basketball team in London, said he will be sidelined seven days because some shards of glass got in his left eye during the altercation Wednesday.
"I was there with a bunch of friends when a fight broke out. They started to throw bottles about. . . . I got it all," Parker said at a news conference, according to Reuters.
"The cornea has been touched. I can't do anything for seven days. . . . But I was lucky. The injury won't prevent me from competing the Olympics in any way," he added.
Parker, fresh off a stellar NBA season and playoff run that ended after the Spurs were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference finals, is scheduled to join the French team on June 20.
France has drawn the United States in the group stage of the Olympic tournament.
