More Homecourt Magic for San Antonio; Spurs Fans Ecstatic About 8-0 Home Start - Yahoo! Sports

The Spurs put in a great all-around team effort to defeat the Trail Blazers 99-83 in San Antonio on Saturday night. The crowd at the AT&T Center was loud from the opening tip, and gave the Spurs a well-deserved standing ovation after the game. The win moves San Antonio to 8-4 on season, perfect at home and winless on the road. San Antonio has not started 8-0 at home since 2007-2008 season.

It was a high-scoring first quarter, with Portland coming out on top 31-27 courtesy of ten San Antonio turnovers. The Spurs found their groove in the second quarter and held a 50-47 lead at halftime. The Trail Blazers lost veteran defensive standout and rebounder Marcus Camby in the second quarter to an ankle injury.

The third quarter was close to a draw. The Spurs were clinging to a small lead with less than five minutes to go in the fourth when Tony Parker came back in off the bench and scored ten straight points to ice the game for San Antonio.

Tony Parker was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 20 points. Center Tiago Splitter had 14 points and forwards Danny Green and DeJuan Blair chipped in 13 each. Tim Duncan scored 7 points in limited minutes. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Trail Blazers with a season high 29 points and Raymond Felton added 13.

San Antonio gets a well-earned day of rest on Saturday and then faces a home match up with Phoenix on Sunday. Portland continues their tour through Texas with a game against the Rockets in Houston Saturday evening.
