San Antonio Spurs have sportsbooks sweating it out - USA TODAY

The oddsmakers were banking on Tim Duncan having old legs. Now they could be paying out for that.

The San Antonio Spurs have locked up home court for the Western Conference playoffs and if they win an NBA title some gamblers will be celebrating and sportsbooks shelling out the Benjamins.

Because of the age of the Spurs and the compacted 66-game season, the Spurs title odds were as high as 30-1 during the season.

"They weren't considered to be major contenders coming into the year but they just kept winning all season," says Greg Sindall, an oddsmaker for SportsInteraction.com told Jason Logan of covers.com. "Some people must be feeling pretty good going into the playoffs with a futures bet on a team that is over .700 at 30-1."

The Spurs are now 5 1/2 to 1.

Other teams that could demand top payoffs to savvy bettors who wagered early:

Los Angeles Clippers: Opened the season at 50-1 before dropping to 15-1 after the Chris Paul trade. They are now 25-1.

Boston Celtics: Odds were as high as 50-1 when the team struggled early. Now 20-1.

New York Knicks: Odds were as high as 75-1. This was before Jeremy Lin and Mike Woodson taking over as coach.Team is now 40-1.
