The Oklahoma City Thunder have managed to bring their series with the San Antonio Spurs even, and now the Thunder head back to Texas on Monday to face the Spurs in San Antonio in game five.
The San Antonio Spurs have dominated both the regular and post seasons this year, however the Spurs now have to be a bit concerned as the dangerous OKC Thunder have managed to tie things up in the Western Conference finals. The Spurs fell to the Thunder in their last outing on Saturday by the total of 109-103, and even though the Spurs have one of the top offenses in the league, getting in a shootout with Durant and Westbrook is not advised. Leading San Antonio on Saturday was Tim Duncan who finished the night with 21 points, and Tony Parker, who has been lighting up the Thunder this series only managed 12 points on Saturday.
The Oklahoma City Thunder did what they needed to do, winning both games back in OKC, and now it is a brand new series. The Thunder, no matter what they say, don't really play defense and OKC must have big games offensively if the Thunder stand any shot against this Spurs team. On Saturday the Thunder were led by Durant, who finished the night with 6 points, and picking up the slack for Westbrook was Ibaka, who finished with 26.
The Spurs are 16-5-1 against the spread in their last 22 games, a number that has dropped somewhat recently, so that is something to keep an eye on as the Spurs were a solid hit all season long. San Antonio has been playing the Thunder well this season however as the Spurs are 10-3 overall in their last 13 against the Thunder, and the Spurs are 5-0 in their last five home games against OKC. The Thunder are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six road games.
Another tough call here, and even though the Spurs are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, I think backing San Antonio is the way to go here. The Spurs have taken care of business at home against the Thunder, and even though OKC has the momentum right now, I look for San Antonio to get another solid win here at home, getting the win and the cover.
